Week 8, Essentials of Networking, Local Area Networking, and Wireless Networking

In week 8 I learned topics such as essentials of networking, local area networking, and wireless networking through chapters 18 to 20. The first chapter explained the importance of the network, its functions, the basic roles of various networks, network technologies, different cables, structured cabling, and implementation of ethernet, The second chapter detailed local area networking, standards, configuring switch and router, installation and configuration of wired networks, troubleshooting, and network organization. In addition, it describes TCP/IP, configuring, setting, and tools.

The third chapter described wireless networking components such as infrared transceiver ports, wireless PCI add-on cards, external USB wireless NIC, smartphone wireless capability, wireless switch and router, and Bluetooth keyboard and tablet. It also explained wireless networking standards, the installation and configuration of wireless networks, security, and their troubleshooting.

Finally, the weekly discussion was about IPv6, which provide more insight into its features and advantages. Overall I enjoyed it and it was a wonderful learning experience.
